#1. I think the most interesting part of chapter 1-4 was the Dragon Man part.Windrider told the story to Moonshadow and it was about a dragon challenging Windrider to do a race with his kite.

#2. I think Moonshadow doesn't feel that comfortable around the American people because a lot of them call him names and bully him. Some of them call him china-man. There was also a boy named Jack who said a lot of mean words.

I think the most surprising thing that happened was when the boy kept asking his mom about Golden Mountain and she made up excuses to not tell him what is going on there. I think he deserves to know his dad is there. I am glad his grandmother told him about the demons that were protecting the gold that his father was trying to get from the mountain.
I agree with Delaney because the Americans did call him a lot of names. I think calling him "China man" is very offending. I know that if some one called me "white girl" just because I was not as good as them or I did not look like them, it would not make me feel good. But then and again do you think that he let the mean things hurt him? Or, do you think that he was of his own kind and they just did not understand him? He might have thought that the little boy Jack just was being mean to get on his nerves.

It was pretty sad that Moon Shadow had to move from the, “middle kingdom” (China). Moon Shadow went to live with his father, findrider, on the, "land of the golden mountain"(California). Moon Shadow and his father, and all the
other tang in Chinatown, call American people, "white demons". Moon Shadow is not adapting to white demons well because he has lots of bullies on top of him. They call him china-man and made up a humiliating rhyme. Palmer Short 19
